candles will illuminate surrounding counties. Communities of Light 2007™
will unite neighborhoods around the belief that peace begins at home.

The lighting of luminary candles along streets and
sidewalks in our communities will be a powerful symbol of hope for all who
struggle with violence in their homes.
All proceeds will benefit Womanspace programs and services, ensuring
that no victim of domestic violence or sexual assault will ever be turned away.
Now in its 30th year, Womanspace, Inc. is the
only non-profit agency serving victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
in Mercer County. Womanspace is a
comprehensive service provider, offering emergency and crisis services,
counseling and legal assistance for victims, survivors and their families.
As
your neighborhood coordinator, I am asking you to participate by purchasing
luminaries and lighting the streets of Hiltonia. Each environmentally friendly $10 kit contains votives and bag
for 6 luminaries to light approximately 100 linear feet. Just add any
non-flammable material (sand, potting soil, kitty litter or bird seed) to
anchor the bags. Luminaries will be lit
at dusk on Sunday, December 16. If you expect to be out of town, please ask
a neighbor to light your luminaries.
