"I thought you and your neighbors might enjoy this aerial view of Hiltonia from
1928 as it began to be developed."
It is a breathtaking view. Since I don't have permission to reproduce it, I will simply give you the URL:

At this time, the May 2007 General Meeting is tentatively scheduled for May 8th, at 7:30pm.
There will be a walking tour of the Trenton Psychiatric Hospital on Saturday, May 19th starting at 10:00 am. The tour will be an informal meeting with hospital and state officials to see the updated security measures that have been instituted at the hospital in the last year, including improved fencing and new gaurd posts. The occurance of walkaways have been dramatically reduced as a result of cooperation between hospital officials, the Hiltonia Association, the Palmer Lane Association, Ewing officials, and Trenton officials.
Everyone is welcome to attend, whether you are interested in learning about the hospital or simply would enjoy the exercise.
The rain date for the event is the following Saturday, May 26th.
Well, the 2007 Easter Egg Hunt was a success on Saturday, March 31st. Bill (our new Association president) led a team that included his wife Regina, Dawn, Anthony, Marc, Michelle, Emma, and myself in taking over duties from Jennifer who had done the Easter Egg Hunt the previous three years. We filled eggs on Friday night, then hid them Saturday morning. At 1:20pm, about 20 kids took off in seperated age groups and picked up the hundreds of eggs containing candy and stickers. Nine of the eggs also contained tickets for special prizes.
Later that afternoon I checked my answering machine and found that the mayor had left me a message.
(What, he called you too?) Apparently, the Connect-CTY system that the city purchased will call you, even if you are on a state or federal "Do Not Call" list. Since the disclaimer appeared to indicate this wasn't the case, I called NTI Group, the company who produces the system, to get the straight scoop. I spoke to a person named Tessa who was very helpful and was familiar with Trenton as a client. Apparently, the "Do Not Call" list that the disclaimer refers to is one that the company keeps on its own. Since the messages going out are from our government, the Connect-CTY system does not have to follow the state and federal lists.
Unfortunately, you will not receive these notification if you have an unlisted number, unless you register on the city's web site, or call to sign up.
Some of you may not be aware, but Mayor Palmer and the city recently made an announcement for a new Emergency Response System, Connect-CTY. I beleive that this is the new system that will be used to augment regional alerts like flooding (for the island) or general issues at the hospital.
Unfortunately, it is not perfect. If you read the disclaimer in the Terms of Use before you register your contact information you will see that it does not appear that you will be called (unless you register) if you have an unpublished number or have signed up with one of the “Do Not Call” lists.
Deep inside I have some serious questions about this system. But I guess I will write this post to simply let you know that if you definitely want to be notified from the system (A test call will come at 4:30pm on March 31st) then, go to the city’s sign up page. In fact, I will probably recommend that the Association, in the interests of the community, should send out a flier to residents urging them to go to the web site and sign up. If you are like a small minority of neighbors who don’t even have internet access, I guess that you will have to find the internet somewhere or get a friend to do it.
Don't panic. In the case of a true emergency like Anthrax, Bird Flu, etc, you will probably be notified by Mercer County's system. They have your registered number regardless of whether you are on a "Do Not Call" list or are unpublished. This is because their system uses a true "911" database. Unfortuantely, we may not be notified of anything that falls short of a major catastrophy. So, please register.
Hi Everyone,
Well, I finally created the neighbor section. I actually took advantage of an "add-on" that was included with the new web hosting service for the server. It has some nice features that I encourage everyone to try out. Since I am new to this, you may not have the access to do everything you want right away. Please be patient and e-mail me (mmcgrath@hiltonia.org) and I should be able to grant your user id any necessary privileges.
Your Neighborhood Web Master,
Michael McGrath
